We are enormously proud of our alumni. Graduates of the School of Recreation, Health, and Tourism have realized much success in their chosen professions and have enriched the lives of individuals and society at large through their expertise and commitment to service. Examples of the success of RHT alumni are many and varied.

Dayton Moore, who took his B.S. in Physical Education in 1991 and M.S. in Sport Administration in 1993, was recently named General Manager of the Kansas City Royals. Formerly Assistant General Manager of the Atlanta Braves, Moore has complete control of baseball operations for the Royals.

Stacy Berger, who received her B.S. in Sport Management in 2004, now serves as Assistant Athletic Director for Events in George Mason’s Athletic Department. Berger previously served as Events Coordinator at George Washington University where she negotiated contracts for the Capital Classic and Hoops for Hope and was Championship Director for the 2006 Atlantic-20 Women’s Lacrosse Championship.

Tara Fitzpatrick-Navarro, a graduate of our Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies Program in 2001, is currently Senior Manager, Certification and Accreditation for the National Recreation and Parks Association. Among her many responsibilities are to provide management oversight to university accreditation, acquatic certification, and playground safety certification.

Shawn Bearden, a 1996 graduate of our M.S. program in Exercise, Fitness, and Health Promotion, took his Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from Florida State University in 2000 and is now an Assistant Professor of Physiology in the Department of Biological Sciences at Idaho State University. Director of the Vascular Health Laboratory, Dr. Bearden has a particular interest in the physiology of oxygen.
