Athletic Training Education Program
ATEP Mission and Goals
The mission of the ATEP is to prepare Athletic Training Students with the clinical knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes that will enable them to perform effectively as entry-level Certified Athletic Trainers in a variety of clinical settings.
1. Offer a well rounded curriculum that embraces the general education mission of George Mason University and prepares students with the abilities to make positive contributions to society.
2. Provide students with the knowledge, clinical skills, and reasoning abilities necessary to practice effectively as an entry-level certified athletic trainer.
3. Offer a breadth of clinical education experiences that enable students to function effectively in a variety of athletic training practice settings.
4. Foster students’ development of the foundational behaviors of professional practice appropriate for athletic training professionals.
5. Provide students with the necessary knowledge and reasoning abilities to successfully challenge the Board of Certification (BOC) Exam.
6. Facilitate continual development of demeanors and cognitive skills befitting an allied health care professional.
