George Mason University Campuses

The main office of the School of Recreation, Health, and Tourism is located on the Prince William campus. Many of the courses offered by the various programs in the School are taught on the Fairfax and Prince William campuses. RHT Faculty have offices on one or the other of these campuses.

Prince William Campus

Bull Run HallA shining jewel in the George Mason University crown, the Prince William campus is home to the School of Recreation, Health, and Tourism (RHT). Students enjoy a modern, high-tech, and comfortable learning and socializing environment, and receive a full range of student services. 

Free shuttle service between Prince William and Fairfax campuses, free membership at the state-of-the-art Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center, on-campus dining, library, computer labs, parking, student life activities, and easy access to faculty are some of the features that RHT students enjoy at this beautiful and friendly campus they like to call ‘home’.

Fairfax Campus

The Fairfax campus of George Mason University is the largest element of the Mason distributed campus system.  Along with university administrative offices, the Fairfax campus contains such facilities as student housing, the Student Union buildings, the George W. Johnson Center, the Center for the Arts complex, Patriot Center (a 113,900-square-foot Recreation Sports Complex), and a 66,000-square-foot Aquatic and Fitness Center. Many of the General Education courses and some major courses taken by RHT students are offered on the Fairfax campus.

Loudoun Campus

Loudoun campusMason’s new Loudoun campus offers course work in nursing, health science, education, information technology, and management, along with undergraduate general education courses. Full programs are available in several fields. Selected RHT courses will soon be offered on the Loudoun campus.

 


Arlington Campus

The George Mason University Arlington campus is located in Arlington County, in what Arlingtonians call Virginia Square.  Originally housing the School of Law, this campus now serves  4 colleges (including the College of Education and Human Development), 3 schools, and 1 institute.  Currently, no RHT programs offer courses on the Arlington campus.

 

Ras Al Khaimah Campus

Mason’s campus in the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) offers several academic programs with more scheduled for the future as new campus facilities are completed. Beginning fall semester 2007, the full curriculum in Tourism and Events Management will be offered at GMU-RAK.

Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center

Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center swimming poolThe Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center, a true community facility, serves the Mason community, the City of Manassas, and Prince William County.  It is the largest of its kind in Virginia and second largest on the east coast. RHT students attend classes in the Freedom Center and have free access to the facility for personal recreation and fitness development.

 

Hemlock Overlook Center for Outdoor Education

The Hemlock Overlook Center for Outdoor Education is jointly operated by George Mason University and the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority.  The Center provides outdoor education and other services to public and private schools, religious groups, community groups, sports teams, corporations, and professional organizations, as well as local, state, and federal government and military agencies.

Prince William Shuttle 

Mason provides free shuttle service between Fairfax and Prince William campuses.  Service is regularly scheduled and timed to support class schedules.  There are two convenient pick up/ drop off points on the Prince William campus, and three on the Fairfax campus.
