MISSION STATEMENT:

As a national and global leader in the study of sport and leisure in history and contemporary society, The Center for the Study of Sport and Leisure in Society (CSSLS) at George Mason University promotes a wider understanding of the role of sport in society through research, collaboration, preservation and public engagement.

PURPOSE AND OPPORTUNITIES:

The Center for the Study of Sport and Leisure in Society (CSSLS) is a collective of scholars researching on the roles of sport and leisure in society at George Mason University. Drawing on a substantial group of renowned researchers, CSSLS examines the place of sport in American and global societies. We provide research and consulting services, academic programming, and critical analysis of key issues in sport past and present leading to grant funding and enhanced research and publishing capacity.
