Admission to Exercise Science or Health Promotion

Entering Freshmen and Transfer Students

Prospective Exercise Science (EXS) or Health Promotion (HPR) students must be admitted to George Mason University. Online application forms and additional information are available through the Admissions Office. As early as possible, admitted students should declare HFRR (Health, Fitness, and Recreation Resources) as their major, with either EXS or HPR as their major concentration.

Changing your major and your concentration to EXS or HPR

Current Mason students may change to or declare a major in RHT with a concentration in Exercise Science or Health Promotion by completing and submitting the Change/Declaration of Academic Program form. When completing the form, use ‘HFRR’ as the Major code, and either ‘EXS’ or ‘HPR’ as the Major/Option Concentration code. Circle ‘BS’ on the New Degree line.

Declaring EXS or HPR as a minor

Mason students majoring in any program or concentration other than a B.S. in Health, Fitness, and Recreation Resources can begin to pursue a minor in EXS or HPR by submitting the Change/Declaration of Academic Program form. When completing the form, fill in the Declaration/Change of Minor section and use ‘EXS’ or ‘HPR’ as the Minor code.
