Internships in Exercise Science and Health Promotion
The required internship experience for Exercise Science and Health Promotion students provides a real-world opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and theoretical foundations. In carefully selected internship situations, students can demonstrate their skills and transition into their careers through a guided culminating academic experience. All EXS and HPR students complete a specialized project during their internship and many have found that their internship turned into a full-time position following graduation.
For employers, internships provide an opportunity to involve students with daily activities. There may be projects or initiatives that have been on the ‘back burner’ for a while; or, there may be a desire to expand or enhance some project within the agency. This is a tremendous opportunity to mentor talented and dedicated students. For further information about sponsoring an Exercise Science or Health Promotion intern, please contact Dr. Cindy Waddell, RHT Internship Coordinator (cwaddell@gmu.edu or 703-993-4160).
