Minor Course Requirements
The PRLS minor is an excellent complement to a Mason bachelor’s degree program or major, and assists students in furthering their education and career goals. Students are required to complete eighteen credits in parks, recreation, and leisure studies courses, including a practicum field experience – eight credits of which must be unique from the major. This minor is available to all Mason students (including those studying Information Technology and Engineering, Health and Human Services, Environmental Science and Policy, Psychology, Management), with the exception of RHT students in any one of the HFRR degree programs.
PRLS 210 – Introduction to Recreation and Leisure (open to non-majors)
PRLS 310 – Program Planning and Design (prerequisite: PRLS 210)
PRLS 316 – Outdoor Education and Leadership
PRLS 327 – Foundations of Therapeutic Recreation
PRLS 410 – Administration of RHT Organizations I (prerequisite: 60 credits)
PRLS 241 – Practicum (Prerequisites: 60 credits and PRLS 210, 310, 316, 327; Corequisite: PRLS 410)
