Physical Activity and Sports Program
The
Physical Activity and Sports Program provides a broad range of courses
that promote the health and wellness of students, faculty, and staff. Taught
by experts with a wealth of experience and commitment to sharing their
knowledge and skills, the courses include more traditional individual and
dual sports, self-defense and martial arts, and recreation activities concerned
with wilderness and outdoor pursuits.
Open to George Mason students in any major, these courses are all designed to foster educational growth, encourage leisure interests, and promote lifetime fitness. These objectives are crucially important to the School of Recreation, Health, and Tourism which is vitally concerned with enriching the lives of those within the University community, making clear the value of leisure pursuits and human movement, and stressing the importance of bodily fitness in a society fraught with obesity and other health issues.
